Androstenol (5alpha-androst-16-en-3-ol)
Androstenol is nicknamed “the icebreaker pheromone” and most of the products containing androstenol are known for their "icebreaking" ability. There are two isomers of this compound, alpha-androstenol and beta-androstenol. Most or the results are similar, but each can each produce different effects. Alpha-androstenol is usually referred to as just androstenol because beta-androstenol is so rarely used in pheromone products. In addition to being naturally produced in humans, androstenol has also been found to be produced in pigs.
